STUDENT INTERN POSITIONS

Job Title:  Assistant to the Director (Intern)

Number of Openings: 1 internship per semester

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM, flexible based on class schedule. Preference given to students available for a full school year (fall and spring semester). Occasional evening/weekend work (if available).

Hours Per Week:  10-12 (possibly flexible to 25 hours during summer semester)

Wage/Salary:   $8 per hour

Start Date/End Date:  First/last day of classes with additional hours available during breaks

Supervisor:  Director

Job Description:  Assist the Director of the Press and other staff as needed with various tasks relating to the management of the Press. Specific tasks include handling or assisting with: routine communications and mailings; developing ideas for and assisting with marketing/sales campaigns; fundraising research; editorial research; other duties as needed.

Experience Gained:  Professional work environment. Exposure to the print/digital book publishing, marketing, sales, fundraising, and non-profit organization management.

Candidate Qualifications:  Undergraduate student at Trinity University. Very strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Preference given to students interested in professional employment in any area of publishing, media, communications, public relations, sales, marketing, business, event planning, non-profit management, and related fields.

Probationary Period:  Thirty (30) days, upon evaluation

Job Title:  Graphic Design Intern

Number of Openings: 1 internship per semester

Supervisor:  Marketing Manager

Job Description:  Assist the Press, specifically the Marketing Manager and other staff as needed, with various tasks relating to the design of marketing, sales, promotional, and other materials for books published by the Press. Specific tasks include work for print/online application such as: design of promotional items such as flyers, graphics, catalogs, posters, invitations, signage, stickers, postcards, bookmarks, etc.; book cover design; book page editing; image manipulation and archiving; management of font and art libraries; other duties as needed.

Experience Gained:  Professional work environment. Exposure to the graphic design and marketing/sales collateral development in support of commercial products and cultural events.  

Candidate Qualifications:  Undergraduate student at Trinity University. Good interpersonal skills. Basic graphic design experience required including knowledge of Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). Preference given to those studying or interested in employment in graphic design.

Specific tasks include: archive media clips received; pack/ship books for the media; media and marketing research; feature story and promotional copywriting; contacting the media to promote editorial coverage; prepare and distribute sales materials; sales prospect research; assist with special event planning; other duties as needed.

Experience Gained:  Professional work environment. Exposure to the print/digital book publishing process and related marketing/sales areas.

Candidate Qualifications:  Undergraduate student at Trinity University. Good written communication and interpersonal skills. Preference given to those studying or interested in employment in any area of media, journalism, publishing, communications, public relations, sales, marketing, business, event planning, non-profit management, and related fields.
