Words Matter Series - Kenny Fries & Sheila Black
Kenny Fries and Sheila Black will be speaking on "Writing the Body" at the Trinity University Holt Center on October 31st at 7:00 PM. The talk is a part of the Words Matter Series, a series of classes and lectures created around the vital life of the written word cosponsored by Gemini Ink and Trinity University Press. Kenny Fries is the author of In the Province of the Gods, The History of My Shoes and the Evolution of Darwin’s Theory and Body, Remember. He edited Staring Back: The Disability Experience from the Inside Out. His books of poems include In the Gardens of Japan, Desert Walking, and Anesthesia and he was commissioned by Houston Grand Opera to write the libretto for The Memory Stone. He received the Creative Capital literature grant, the Creative Arts Fellowship from the Japan/US Friendship Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, and was twice a Fulbright Scholar (Japan and Germany). He teaches in the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Goddard College.
