Words Matter Series - Kevin McIlvoy
Gemini Ink and Trinity University Press host acclaimed author Kevin McIlvoy at Trinity University’s Holt Center as part of their new creative writing class and lecture series Words Matter.
“The central pleasure of our lives as storytellers,” according to McIlvoy, “is to be fully present to the luminous and dark wonders before us.” Learn how the most compelling stories, including the strangest and the saddest, invite readers to welcome life-altering readiness and wonder.
McIlvoy has taught creative writing for over twenty-five years and recently served as Interim Director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Warren Wilson College. He was editor-in-chief of the national literary magazine Puerto del Sol, and has served on the Board of Directors of several national writing organizations. His collection of fiction and prose poems, 57 Octaves Below Middle C (Four Way Books), was recently published in Sep 2017. His other recent books include a story collection, The Complete History of New Mexico (Graywolf Press), and the novels, Hyssop and Little Peg.
Sign up for McIlvoy's two-day workshop that takes place Sat-Sun, Oct 21-22, from 10am-1pm–The Stance of Wonder: Cultivating the Fiction Writer’s Habit of Readiness. More here.
