Trinity University Press and Brazos Bookstore present the Launch Party for Native Texan: Stories from Deep in the Heart. Bass Reeves, Barbette, and Ana María Calvillo are just some of the known and unknown legends that make Texas unique. Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Joe Holley is widely loved for his popular “Native Texan” column, which appears in the Houston Chronicle. In thirty stories curated from the archives, Holley introduces readers to his favorite people and places across the state from Brazos to Waco, including the Black Seminole tradition, the creator of Conan the Barbarian, a brush with Bonnie and Clyde, the moon towers of Austin, and more. Tuesday, July 30. Doors open at 6pm; the event begins at 6:30pm. Books will be available for sales and signing at the event. Sponsored by Trinity University Press and Brazos Bookstore.
