Gretchen E. Henderson is the associate director for research at the Harry Ransom Center and a senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin. Her writing has appeared in Ecotone, Ploughshares, the Kenyon Review, and the Notre Dame Review, and her coauthored work has appeared in Nature Sustainability and Conservation Biology. Her most recent books are Ugliness: A Cultural History and Galerie de Difformité. Her opera libretto on the climate crisis, Cassandra in the Temples, premiered at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She lives in Austin.
