Kathleen Dean Moore is the author or editor of many books, including Great Tide Rising: Finding Clarity and Moral Courage in a Time of Planetary Change, Piano Tide, Wild Comfort, The Pine Island Paradox, Rachel Carson, Holdfast, Riverwalking, and countless articles. Moore’s nature books have won the Oregon Book Award, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers' Award, and the Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award. Her work is published Orion, Audubon, Discover, The Sun, and the New York Times Magazine. She previously served as the Distinguished Professor of Environmental Philosophy Emerita at Oregon State University, and serves on the board of directors for the Orion Society, the Oregon Humanities Magazine, and the Island Institute in Sitka, Alaska. She lives in Corvallis, Oregon.
